This is part of the series on my lazy cycling habits. Currently, it is a draft, and reads like a guide. But that will be changed as I find time.
Draft
This is a quick summary of what is ahead. For the meat of what is being talked about, and the reasons behind them, read on!
- First year, do only nice days! If that’s only ten days, it’s fine.
- Do not bike more than 3-4 km each way. The rest is by other means.
- It’s not the bike that counts, it’s the clothing.
- Pre-empt sweating: pace yourself, and mind your body temperature.
Basically, you will do a short distance by bike, and leave the big chunks to bus/subway/train/car/etc. You will learn to pace yourself, and plan your commute, such that you will not need to shower at work. You will learn some basic behaviours, and gain some knowledge. And you will be taught the importance of patience, and acting for the long term.
This is about changing behaviour. It is about getting into a new habit, at a very gradual pace, and perhaps to only a limited extent. Nothing big! If it’s too much work, you’re doing it wrong!
