It may not obvious immediately, but, to me, this is the intersection of many of my thoughts with respect to education/schooling; precarity and the end of employment; and aid/charity as a business. More on this later.
Note that there is not much difference between what these women do, and what your local Best Buy, or cable company, technician does: They have no idea of the lower abstractions involved, and merely operate at a higher abstraction layer. Mostly, it is a set of procedures which they follow. The same applies to tech. support, and to much other work.
But the key point is that they need not know! Do you have any idea of how the Internet works, now that you are reading this? Trust me, you don’t! Even if you work in IT, there is a universe that you are completely unaware of.
The education racket has its own needs and requirements, and they often have little to do with what human life really needs.
