The documentary “The Mayor of Mogadishu” provides a bit more info with respect to Al Shabab in Somalia. It is informative, though, as with all documentaries, its PoV has to be kept continuously in mind. In particular, it is very sympathetic to the mayor, and does not at all touch on the TFG or the foreign players. The latter could not have been its focus, within the limits of the story it addresses, but it is something that the viewer has to keep conscious of.

The question arises again: What is the source of Al Shabab’s funding? You see all those guns; where does the money come from to buy those? And the money for their food, transportation, ammo, etc? Often, neighbouring countries are involved. In this case, is it across the Red Sea?

As for the Ayn Randian ammo-conflict people mentioned, I think they’d do very well on Wall St!
