Just now, I watched yet another cancer specialist recommending lifestyle changes when asked about cancer prevention.

I wonder if they know that they are lying. What was the Upton Sinclair line, about it being difficult to convince a man about something on which his income depends?
Years ago, CBC’s Wendy Mesley made the documentary “Chasing the Cancer Answer.” None of it came as a surprise to me, since, for eons, I’d known of the fundamental problems with medical research, and with the charity/aid business. Still, it is a good introduction for those who have begun to ask questions.
In my own life-time, I have noticed a tremendous increase in the spread of cancer. It does not take great intellect to put that together with data from various lifestyles around the world, and the clear effects of known carcinogens (hey, Vietnam and Chernobyl ain’t subtle!), and shift focus to industry–unless if your research funding/career depends on the latter!
Update, 05 Dec. 2011:
The Idiot Cycle, a documentary about cancer research.
High cancer rates in Ecuadorean Amazon, due to toxic waste from oil drilling. (Update, 7 Dec. 2011: The documentary is titled “The Blood of Kouan Kouan”. It is another great production by the Small Planet documentary house in Greece.)
Perhaps the good doctors can recommend lifestyle changes to the Amazonians.
