This famous appearance, in 2005, by George Galloway in front the US Senate, reminds us of the tragedy that was inflicted upon Iraq by the Americans. It started long before the current war.
In particular, note the count of Iraqis who died by the sanctions: a million, with at least half being children. (The latter drew Madeleine Albright’s infamous “the price is worth it” remark.) If I recall correctly, John Pilger and others referred to it as a slow genocide.
Add to this the over a million who have died in the current war. And then there was the first American war, and the US-backed war by Saddam against Iran. Continuous trauma, indeed.
