This was another 2004 article (still available here, like the rest of them). It addresses the American/Western “Bringing Freedom to the Middle East” claim.
America is to bring freedom to the Middle East. They are to be granted the fruits of “our” civilization: Democracy and other whiteners for Arabica!
Even if one thinks that the people of Iraq are incapable of deciding for themselves, that they are democratically incapacitated, and so that another people ought to choose for them, (not just organise, as the avowed aim of the US occupation is to pass control to the Iraqis as soon as possible), then one still cannot assign this role to North Americans.
As a people who have demonised Arabs for decades, systematically belittled them in their culture, benefited the most from their exploitation, have a history of destructive interference in Arab affairs, are the strongest supporters of Israel, and have historically shown no interaction with Arab peoples, then North Americans are uniquely unqualified—if not disqualified—for such a role.
